In Chinese Astrology, an important kind of calendar is what’s known as the the “24 solar terms”. This indicates changes of weather and different periods of the seasons, guiding farmers in their agricultural production. Common people also follow the calendar to watch out for changes in the weather and live healthier lives.
June 21st marks the beginning of “Summer Solstice (夏至)” – the 10th of the 24 solar terms – which signifies when daytime is the longest and the nighttime is the shortest of the year.

In this spirit, we would like to give you a series of tips for healthy living during this phase!

What do you need to do?
1. The temperature is going to get even hotter so please pay attention to heatstroke;
2. Summer Solstice focuses on nourishing the heart. Since summer is super hot, people might become agitated which can affect how the body works as well as affect mental health.
3. The heat makes it easy to sweat, and clothes should be exchanged frequently. Take frequent baths, but do not shower with cold water.
4. The temperature is going to increase so people will sweat a lot more. At this time period, people will need to drink more water to be hydrated.
5. Try to stay in positive mood and do more meditation to eliminate bad moods or distracting thoughts.
What to eat?
One’s diet should be light but sometime you still need to eat some “bitter” vegetables -such as bitter melon or cilantro (coriander) – those bitter vegetables can help you calm down and prevent the summer heat. At the same time, you are allowed to eat something that can cool you down, such as watermelon, steamed cold noodle, and sour plum soup which can quench your thirst. Also, Try to eat more green vegetables, different types of melon, and fruits with a lot of water. People should also eat wonton, rice noodle, garlic, and green onion to help them maintain their immune system. Furthermore, eating ginger can help with the loss of appetite.
What you should watch out?
Please be careful about summer heat and try to drink more water. Try to stay calm and peaceful. In addition, try to exercise in the early morning or later afternoon to avoid the sun and the heat. You are going to sweat a lot after exercising, so be sure to drink water with a little bit of salt or green beans water with a little bit of salt. Remember don’t drink too much cold water after exercising.

June 6th marks the beginning of “Grain In Ear (芒种)” – which signifies the ripening of crops such as barley and wheat.

In this spirit, we would like to give you a series of tips for healthy living during this phase!

 

What do you need to do?

1. Pay attention to Heatstroke – the temperature will begin to rise significantly during this period.

2. The heat makes it easy to sweat, so clothes should be exchanged frequently. Take frequent baths, but do not shower with cold water..

3. Be careful not to sleep in the open air.

4. Conforming to the seasonal characteristics of the day and night, late to bed and early to rise, enjoy the sunshine but need to prevent heat stroke, to comply with the vigorous Yang, and to be conducive to the operation of Qi and blood.

 

What to eat?

Diet should be light, mainly vegetables, beans, fruits: pineapple, watermelon, lychee and so on. These foods are rich in vitamins, can improve the body’s resistance to disease, and intake of enough vitamin C, blood vessels have a certain role in maintenance.

 

And what you should watch out?

After a lot of sweating, don’t drink too much boiled water or sugar water immediately. You can drink some juice or sugar brine to prevent blood potassium from being too low. Proper supplement of potassium is conducive to improving potassium and sodium balance in vivo. Foods that contain more potassium include corn, sweet potatoes, soybeans, bananas, spinach, celery and potatoes.

Daoism and Yijing believe humans came from fish and birds, not monkeys. It actually contradicts Darwin’s Theory. Whether or not you believe in the myths of mermen and mermaids, there is still other things to consider like the similarity of the human embryo to that of a fish and even some fish look like human babies.

In this year’s Qi Gong practice we will learn of the Golden Cocooning – and when we emerge from our cocoon it will be synonymous to the act of descaling a fish; like the silk worm shedding the cocoon to reveal itself as the moth.

In the Taiji philosophy, Yin is a fish and Yang is a bird. The curved line between them symbolizes that the fish and the bird, the ying and the yang, become human.

In this cultivation, the Yang-bird symbolizes how our spirit and soul is going to rise out of us. So from the cocoon, to the emergence out of it, to the transcendence over soul and spirit, only after that can we shed the flesh and transform the bones – the ultimate transformation – after which is us, human.

Daoism requires anyone who practices this cultivation to cyclically train in this every seven years. The same as the practice of putting a crystal ball in the ocean to cleanse.

Through this cultivation it will enhance your thinking, your soul and your body.

Through this cultivation we need to find ourselves. We need to combine the Bird with the Fish – to press them together to become human. Through this cultivation when you compress the two parts of the taiji it will boost your health, and at the same time you will resdiscover the most innate and natural part of yourself.

Through this cultivation, you can see your future, or rather, you can see some of the correct decisions you will have chosen in the future (because a lot of times not all of our decisions are good ones). Many of our mistakes do not emanate from us, but rather it’s due to many factors, such as the pollution of the earth has clouded us, and the electric fields that surround us that make us lose our sense of direction.

Thus, the supreme goal is the ultimate combination of Heaven, Earth and Human.

1. Please keep warm – the temperature during this time will fluctuate greatly between day and night.

2. Open the window during the daytime to let the air coming in and close the window right before you go to sleep.

3. Wear socks while sleeping to preserve the Yang.

 

What to eat?

Avoid eating too much raw and cold food.

Treat Hepatitis With Traditional Chinese Medicine

The liver is one of the body’s most hardworking organs, vital in sustaining life. It stores and maintains proper levels of vitamins A, B, D, iron and copper.
